How to Print Double-Sided Flash Cards
- Choose “Print on both sides” and “Flip on long edge” in your printer settings.
- Print at 100% scale on cardstock, so the answers do not show through.
- Cut along the dashed lines. Each answer will be on the back of its problem.
- No duplex printer? Print the front pages, put them back in the tray face down, then print the answer pages.
You can also print only the front pages and work out the answers as you go. Every page pair is labeled “FRONT” and “BACK” with its sheet number.
A Simple Order for Learning the Facts
- Start with the 0s, 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s, which follow easy patterns.
- Move to the 3s, 4s and 9s.
- Finish with the 6s, 7s, 8s, 11s and 12s.
- Remember that 3 x 7 and 7 x 3 are the same answer. That cuts the number of facts to learn almost in half.
Flash Card Games
- Beat the clock: see how many cards you can answer in one minute.
- Two piles: sort the cards into “I know it” and “practice more”.
- Multiplication war: two players flip a card, and the bigger answer wins both cards.
- Hide and find: hide cards around the room and answer each one you find.
